The ‘Orient-Express’ made its first journey on 4th October 1883 from Paris to Istanbul and by the 1920’s it was considered the ultimate in luxurious and chic travel. It was the favourite of kings, courtesans and spies. In 1977 James B Sherwood, Chairman of Orient-Express Hotels bought two of the run down carriages at an auction in Monte Carlo.

The classic journeys, operating between March and November, take you to great European cities, including London, Paris, Venice, Prague, Vienna and Budapest. This breathtaking journey through rural French farmlands and Swiss Alpine valleys can be travelled in either direction, or both. Whereas The Signature Journey takes you between Paris and Istanbul, an authentic adventure over six days to the edge of Europe. Delve into culture with stops in Budapest and Bucharest before arriving in soulful Istanbul.

With its art deco interiors, panelled cabins and ornate dining carriages, your journey promises a true sensory delight as you wind your way through the ever-changing European countryside. To enhance the experience even further, you and your travelling companion can sample the finest three-course dining at either Hotel Cipriani’s excellent Cips Club.

Brining new Grand Tour routes crisscrossing through Europe. Embark on a thrilling voyage connecting some of the continent’s most vibrant cultural hubs. Explore the elaborate canals of Amsterdam—taking in the world-class museums by day and sampling the Dutch cuisine by night—before boarding the train for your overnight adventure.
